The closest airport is Roanoke Regional Airport (ROA). ROA is served by American Airlines, Delta Airlines, and United Airlines. These airlines offer direct flights from Atlanta, Charlotte, Chicago, New York, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C.
Other airports include Piedmont Triad International Airport (PTI, 2.5 hour drive), Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT, 2.75 hour drive), and Dulles International Airport (IAD, 4 hour drive).
The Smart Way Bus service travels between the airport and Virginia Tech during weekdays and on Saturdays for $4/each direction. The seats are comfortable and free wireless is provided. Their schedule can be found here.
The B Early Roanoke Blacksburg Airport Transportation provides 24-hour cab service. Reservations can be made by calling 540-926-3300. They charge a flat rate of $85.00.
Several car rental companies including Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Alamo and National Car Rental are available at ROA; their counters are located in the baggage claim area of the airport. Reservations are recommended.
